As part of the eighth collaboration between SAVVY Contemporary and MaerzMusik, the solo exhibition and event series “REFUGE IN THE VEGETAL WORLD” is dedicated to the work of the composer, sound artist and musician Miya Masaoka.

To the exhibition
Miya Masaoka‘s exhibition REFUGE IN THE VEGETAL WORLD will be accompanied by performative and sound actions during and after the MaerzMusic Festival. The work “ Cubistics , ” which is a three-dimensional score, is activated twice. It is presented as a floating wooden cube with an animation projected on the wall. Originally conceived as a performance element, the cube serves as a surface for sound mapping during the performance. As the sound interacts with the cube, it is converted into music, engaging the audience in the scoring process in real time. In this way, the audience played an important role in understanding and actively participating in the unfolding of the musical composition.
The score is performed by Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu and James Banner.
