The new album release // Available soon on Bandcamp // with duo Melih Sarıgöl
Sweet Little Drowsy Being Lost Its Slumber is the debut album by the Berlin-based duo Melih Sarıgöl, modular synthesisers and Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu, cello and voice.
As a duo, they explore tools to create a sound world that excites and surprises them while offering a sense of grounding. This approach leads them to a constant movement across genres, including noise, free improvisation, contemporary classical music, and Turkish makam–based melodic fragments. In this process, Melih extends his instrument through live processing modules, while Ayşe integrates Turkish makam flavours and effects.
Besides their duo project, they are also organising an electroacoustic concert series that draws a line from their common cultural background to their current base in Berlin.
Most of the album’s tracks were taken from the duo’s live concert recordings in Berlin; the last two were recorded in the studio. (The Generation Chimes Exclusion Hymns and Bir Barok Mahmurun Uykusu Kaçmış).
All pieces are improvised and composed by Melih Sarıgöl and Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu.
The piece ‘Komm zum Eifer der Rosengesichter’ is based on a composition by Tab’i Mustafa Efendi, originally titled ‘Gül Yüzlülerin Şevkine Gel Nuş Edelim Mey’.
